Plants and Nature

Plants - Nature and Aromatherapy

Working with aromatherapy and esssential oils i find it very important to understand the source.  So I started my journey exploring just how magnificient plants are.  In this process it places the importance of how we use these precious oils.  Lets take a look at some of the plant parts and their functions.

Working with essential oils you will notice that there are different parts of the plant used to extract the essential oil.  Plants do not come in one size or shape; they come in many shapes and sizes and most plants have the same parts with a function to keep the plant healthy.

Roots - The roots function is to hold the plant in the soil and take in water and nutrients to feed the plant.(essential oils that are derivered from roots will be very grounding; Base Notes)

Stem - The stem is a transport system it holds the plant upright and carriers the food and nutrients to the other parts of the plant.

Leaves - The leaves make food for the plant. Structures within a leaf convert the energy in sunlight into chemical energy that the plant can use as food.  (the leaves play a vital role in feeding the plant - powerful role.  Essential oils derivered from leaves would be middle notes and very powerful therepeutic qualities.

Flowers - The flowers make seeds so the plant can reproduce itself. (Hybrids do not reproduce; essential oils that are derivered from flowers will be very nuturing and healing; usually Middle Notes)

Plants play a vital and key role here on our planet.  They are responsible for oxygen; something we need!
